How To Create A Birthday Magic Square by Mark S. Farrar

Many people now know how to create Magic Squares, including how to create one that adds up to a total specified by a spectator.

Magic Squares became somewhat of a speciality for me, when I wrote a book on this subject as my "entrance examination" to become a Member of The Magic Circle.

It was while I was discussing Magic Squares with David Berglas, who was the President of The Magic Circle at the time, that he told me about a routine he had performed whereby a person’s birthday was included within four cells of a 4 x 4 Magic Square. (David’s Magic Square routines are detailed in the recently published book by David Britland, "The Mind & Magic of David Berglas".)

This short eBook describes the method which I eventually discovered of creating such a Birthday Magic Square, where the top row of four cells forms a specific date (e.g. somebody’s birthday, anniversary, or perhaps Christmas Day).
